Eamon visits Oasis Farms where mass production of Chia is taking place.
- Chia is an annual herb that is grown commercially for its seed.
- Chia is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids,which is known to benefit health, improving appetite, weight, inflammation, ADHD symptoms and quality of life. Tentative evidence suggests that it also reduces the risk of breast cancer.
- A 100-gram serving of chia seeds is a rich source of B vitamins, Thiamine and Niacin. Chia seeds can be added to foods such as smoothies, breakfast cereals, energy bars, yoghurt and bread.
