Broadcast: 31st July 2015
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
Trevor visits the Swan Valley Nursery to show you what root vegetables you can grow at home.
- Root vegetables, in general, are storage organs, enlarged to store energy in the form of carbohydrates.
- The horseradish grows successfully in zones with a long growing season and winter temperatures cold enough to ensure plant dormancy.
- Cress is an easy root vegetable to grow, it is related to the watercress plant, even mustard. Cress contains a peppery, tangy flavor and aroma, ideally added in soups, sandwiches and salads.
